Each and every day that are an unlimited amount of things that leave us feelings stressed and over-worked. Whether it’s being a full-time parent, working your way to the top of the career ladder or somehow trying to juggle both – day to day life is hard, hard work.

When things get hard, it’s important to remember to practice self-care.

But what exactly is self-care?

The official definition of self-care is ‘the actions that individuals take for themselves, on behalf of and with others in order to develop, protect, maintain and improve their health, wellbeing or wellness’. To put it simply, it is the act of looking after yourself.

Although a lot of people beleive self-care has to be practiced alone, it can also involve the people that you love. This is one of the most important things you need to remember when you do anything for self-care – it has to be for you. Reading is a great way to practice self-care as it gives you a chance to escape real life.

Having regular check-ups at the doctor may not seem like fun, but it’s one of the best ways you can ensure you’re looking after yourself to the best of your ability.
