If you’re anything like me, you’ll have spent the last few days soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm weather. And while that weather has been great, the majority of us are still stuck at work and don’t have the option to head out into the garden or visit the beach with friends, so the upcoming Bank Holiday Weekend at the end of August is something I’m looking forward to.
We’re still a month and a bit away from that elusive Bank Holiday Weekend, but I thought I’d get my thinking cap on and take a look at some of the things you can do to prepare. If you want to make the most of the last of the summer weather, then read on for my handy guide!
Check the weather forecast
While we might be enjoying one of the warmest summers on record right now, there’s nothing to guarantee that the warm weather is going to stick around. If you want to make sure you’re best prepare for the August Bank Holiday, keep your eye on the forecasts in the weeks leading up to it; bad weather may encourage you to rethink your plans and spend time with friends indoors!
Decide where you want to be
Spending time at the beach is great fun, but if it’s not scorching, the sand can be tough in the wind and the water can be too cold for a splash. Have a think about the different venues where you could host your Bank Holiday get together – you could hire a villa in the countryside, host your own garden party or even head abroad and make the most of the three days off of work.
Stock up on drinks and barbecues
Supermarket alcohol always seems to be that tad more expensive in the summer months, especially during the World Cup and when the weather is nice outside. To save money and get prepared, consider stocking up on drinks in advance and keeping them in your garage or shed for the August Bank Holiday. You should also keep a look out for barbecues or find a more environmentally-friendly approach to cooking your food. Those disposable BBQs are terrible!
Plan your outfits
Whether you’re planning on chilling with friends or going to a late-summer festival, it’s important that you look the part. You need to keep it cool during the summer, so shorts and tees are the most sensible options. The Captain America and Game of Thrones inspired tees at Luc Bauer are perfect for the summer months – pair with a pair of cargo shorts, and you’re set for the day!
Don’t forget the sunscreen
You should also look to stock up on sun cream to make sure your skin is protected from harmful UV rays during the end of the summer. Even just an hour in the sun without protection can lead to long-lasting damage, so slap it on and get your friends and family to keep you topped up.
